John - if you grab the prop and shake it from side to side, you should feel no, repeat, no movement. If it moves at all to your shake, the cutless is probably bad. On the other hand, most cutless bearings last thousands of hours. Since water is the coolant and lubricant for the rubber cutless bearing, is there any chance you have run the engines in gear on the lift out of the water? The bearing could burn up if run dry in a matter of minutes.
