To see where you fall in the shaft safety formula ask the shaft/ prop shop to calculate it for you. You'll need to know your engine rpm, torque, prop size etc. You should end up above a 4.0 and ideally as close as possible to 5.0 which no one achieves. I'm at 4.45 with 1 1/2" shafts and was only 3.1 with AM 19 1 3/8" but that is diesel power. Gas has much less torque so you are probably closer to 4.0 but ask for a calculation. Hope that helps.
