Joe,

Your assumption is correct... A 2" full flow valve has no restriction less than 2". A standard 2" valve only has about 1 3/4" opening through the ball. Your bilge pumps are also measured in I.D. at the discharge tube. Allowing for the thickness of the tube and locking flange, a larger I.D. tubing is required.
