I went and read their specs.
They do apparently use a DC compressor they designed.
It draws 48 amps.
To run it for 8 hours on fully charged batteries with nothing else at all on would take 3 8D batteries.
As voltage decreases, so does the btu capacity of the compressor as voltage directly affects speed of the compressor motor and thus pumping capacity.

It doesn't say what gas it uses, but I would guess it would be a low temp gas used in refrigeration.

I would also like to know how they figure on cooling a 33' boat with a 5k unit.

It must be one of those specialty products for boats that run in the dessert at 5000' altitudes.

Seems the slide rule boys havn't run into Mr. Real Life yet.
