I went and read their specs.
They do apparently use a DC compressor they designed.
It draws 48 amps.
To run it for 8 hours on fully charged batteries with nothing else at all on would take 3 8D batteries.
As voltage decreases, so does the btu capacity of the compressor as voltage directly affects speed of the compressor motor and thus pumping capacity.It doesn't say what gas it uses, but I would guess it would be a low temp gas used in refrigeration.
I would also like to know how they figure on cooling a 33' boat with a 5k unit.
It must be one of those specialty products for boats that run in the dessert at 5000' altitudes.
Seems the slide rule boys havn't run into Mr. Real Life yet.
