In Response To: 12 volt Marine AC? (Capt. Mike Holmes)

Mike,
If it runs off 12vdc, it has an inverter built in.
There are currently no 12vdc compressors that have the 5k btu capacity.

It would be okay for a 25, but 5k btu on a 31 is not nearly enough.

I always get a kick out of getting around the generator thing.
To setup an inverter system correctly to run high current devises and then charge them with the engine, your at 2/3 cost of a genset and the gen set will use less fuel than the engine while running.

I've had people spend 5k to setup a really good inverter/charging system.......and already have a genset installed.
I don't bother asking them why anymore, I just say..."here's your sign".
