There is a mention in the new Motorboatng, a much more detailed article in the latest Southern Boating, about a new 12 volt/120 volt 5,000 btu marine AC marketed by Glacier Bay. It can run off shorepower at the dock, off a generator offshore, or atraight off the 12 volt batteries Outboards don't create enough amps at trolling speed to run it without extra battery help, but inboards certainly would. They say a 6 battery bank of series 32 batteries will run it 8 hours? This might be something for guys who don't want or otherwise need a genset to have dockside AC that can run offshore when the engines are running.
