It is a Cummins 8 cylinder, (V-8), 504CI diesel with a turbo. They're late 70's through the 80's production.
Big, heavy and reliable if maintianed.
There were more of the V504's in use than VT's.
V504 and VT504 were options on the B31.
My 79 FBC runs V504's.
