Hull Number Help

I'm still trying to decipher my hull number. My boats a 1972 and doesnt seem to have a standard number. My title and registration state the hull id as 5 315881124. Now, when I called Bertram Yachts, the said that number is not right. I found a number written under one of the panels in the berth in black marker. The number is 1124. Now, from what I can gather from prior posts I guess the 315 in my number is the model, flybridge cruiser, the 1124 is my hull number. Anyone know wht the 5 or the 88 stand for? Any help would be appreciated!
