Bertram 20 Foam Growth?

Has anyone got any help for me? while redoing the Bahia Mar I got from Uncle Vic, we noticed that the aft sections of the cockpit deck are bulging upwards as much as 2 inches in some places. It looks like the foam that is between the hull and the deck has "grown" over the years for some reason. It appears worse in the aft area. You can see where the deck has pulled the screws holding it down to the areas under the hatches around the engine and over the fuel tank. It looks like it would be an enormous project to pull out the deck, cut out the foam and refoam and reinstall the deck. The foam appears intact and dry where accessible. My inclination is to fix the connection where it has pulled out the screws by glassing the joint and leaving it. I never would have noticed it except for the scres that were exposed after pulling off all the trim. Any suggestions, Faithful?
