bridge alluminium trim

capt. patrick and the rest of the faith here is a question that has never been address.i painted the bridge after removing all that horrible trim on the pillars.i stood back to check it out and realize i made a mistake not removing that 1/2" trim that goes entirely around the bridge.does anybody know if this is a seam or just the way bertram made two edges meet.buddy boy has it removed and faired,what does this entailed ? did you just drill out the rivets and rip off the trim and fill or is it structual?
