David,

1. Support the strut from underneath. It shouldn't drop when you remove the strut bolts, but to be sure, just support it.

2. Remove nuts on inside of boat from strut bolts. This may take two people. One to turn the nuts, one to hold the screw head.

3. Grind off any tabbing on the old plywood and pry off. This may come off in one piece or several depending on how well any caulking worked.

4. Follow Pats procedure for making and installing the new inside backing.
