The backing plate should come up without compromising the integrity of the hull at all!! The only reason Capt. Pat had to cut the hull was because of the groundin damage. Yours should come out from the inside OK. Just grind the inside of the hull clean and follow the steps in the article for putting the backing plate in. Rawleigh
