Boat follies continued *PIC*

The below picture shows why I include a clause that stipulates, "if I can't see it and it gets in my way, its extra" in my repowers.
When I first looked at the stringers, they had on the outside a layer of glass going from the top of the stringer 45 degrees down to the hull.
Tapped on it and it sounded hollow. No problem to cut a slot to slide the new brackets in place over the stringers.Pulled the old engine out, cleaned the area, made the new brackets and went to cut the glass with a cutting wheel. Once thru the glass I got sparks.
Hum. I finished cutting out the piece of glass needed and removed to find.........concrete.
I spent half a day chipping a 2 by 12 by 6 inche deep slot to slide the brckets over and get to the bolts.
Not enough for ballast and not in the right place for balance.
Since the boat was made up north, I think I'll keep a look out for some bones.
