Found this on Shootingsportsman.com (great site) thought you guys might get a kick(cept Scott. :) )

Bruce tear em up......

I was going to go stir things up on my favorite website, www.democratunderground.com but first I had to become a member. I thought the rules were hilarious. It's my party and I'll cry if I want to:

Please read the following forum acceptable use policy. You must agree to the following terms in order to register and use this forum.

Forum Acceptable Use Policy

MESSAGE BOARD RULES (SHORT VERSION)

1. This is a message board for Democrats and other progressives.
2. Treat people with respect. Don't be rude or bigoted. Discuss the message, not the messenger.
3. Don't post entire articles. Instead, post short excerpts (not exceeding 4 paragraphs) with links.
4. Respect the wishes of the moderators and administrators.

MESSAGE BOARD RULES (LONG VERSION)

Follow the "Short Version" of the rules listed above and you will never have any trouble on this message board. Those simple rules are the road map for productive participation on Democratic Underground.

We also provide this "Long Version" of the rules, dealing with a number of specific issues that arise on this message board. This "Long Version" does not supersede the "Short Version" of the rules. Rather, it is intended to provide specific information about specific situations.

GENERAL RULES

We reserve the right to ban anyone for any reason, and to delete any post for any reason.

If you think someone is breaking any of the rules listed here, please click the "Alert" link on the offending post so a moderator can deal with it.

All issues are ultimately decided by the administrators of this website. If you wish to appeal a decision, send an email to admin@democraticunderground.com.

WHO IS WELCOME ON DEMOCRATIC UNDERGROUND, AND WHO IS NOT

We welcome Democrats of all stripes, along with other progressives who will work with us to achieve our shared goals.

This is a "big tent" message board. We welcome a wide range of progressive opinion. You will likely encounter many points of view here that you disagree with.

We ban conservative disruptors who are opposed to the broad goals of this website. If you think overall that George W. Bush is doing a swell job, or if you wish to see Republicans win, or if you are generally supportive of conservative ideals, please do not register to post, as you will likely be banned.

If you have been banned from Democratic Underground, you are not permitted to log on again using a different username. Previously banned members will be immediately banned, regardless of behavior.

People who repeatedly and willfully break the rules, or who generally engage in rude, antisocial behavior, will be banned. It doesn't matter if you are a progressive or a long-term member of this board.

BIGOTRY

Do not post racist, sexist, homophobic, ethnic, anti-religious, or anti-atheist bigotry. Unambiguous expressions of bigotry will be deleted, and will often result in the immediate banning of the individual responsible.

If it is not clear whether a comment is bigoted, we will generally give the benefit of the doubt and assume the least-bigoted interpretation. However, individuals who repeatedly post borderline-bigoted comments will be considered bigots and will be removed.

When discussing race, gender, sexual orientation, ethnicity, or religion, please exercise the appropriate level of sensitivity toward others and take extra care to clearly express your point of view. This will help avoid misunderstandings and undeserved accusations of bigotry.

COPYRIGHT ISSUES AND BANDWIDTH THEFT

Don't post entire copyrighted articles. If you wish to reference an article, provide a brief excerpt and include a link to the original source. Generally, excerpts should not exceed three or four paragraphs.

Do not plagiarize.

Do not steal someone else's bandwidth by posting images that are hosted on another website. Democratic Underground is a high-traffic website, so posting images from other sites will cause their server load to increase dramatically, and might even cost the website owner money. If you wish to post an image from another website, you must contact the owner of the other website to get their consent.

If you post copyrighted images, always post the source of the image.

PERSONAL ATTACKS, CIVILITY, AND RESPECT

The administrators of Democratic Underground are working to provide a place where progressives can share ideas and debate in an atmosphere of mutual respect. Despite our best efforts, many of our members often stray from this ideal and cheapen the quality of discourse for everyone else. Unfortunately, it is simply impossible to write a comprehensive set of rules forbidding every type of antisocial behavior. The fact that the rules don't forbid a certain type of post does not automatically make an uncivil post appropriate, nor does it imply that the administrators approve of disrespectful behavior. Every member of this community has a responsibility to participate in a respectful manner, and to help foster an atmosphere of thoughtful discussion. In this regard, we strongly advise that our members exercise a little common decency, rather than trying to parse the message board rules to figure out what type of antisocial behavior is not forbidden.

Do not post personal attacks or engage in name-calling against other members of this discussion board.

If you are going to disagree with someone, please stick to the message rather than the messenger. For example, if someone posts factually incorrect information, it is appropriate to say, "your facts are wrong," but it is not appropriate to say "you are a liar."

Do not publicly accuse another member of this message board of being a disruptor, troll, conservative, Republican, or FReeper. Do not try to come up with cute ways of skirting around the spirit of this rule. If you think someone is a disruptor, click the "Alert" link below their post so the moderators can deal with it. Unfortunately, it has become all too common for members of this message board to label anyone with a slightly different point of view as a disruptor. We disapprove of this behavior because its intent is to stifle discussion, enforce a particular "party line," and pre-emptively label a particular point of view as inappropriate or unwelcome. This makes thoughtful and open debate virtually impossible.

Democratic Underground is a "big tent" message board which welcomes a broad range of progressive opinions. As such, you are likely to disagree strongly with many of the comments you see expressed here. Please do not take these differences of opinion personally. The simple fact that someone disagrees with you does not give you the right to lash out and break the rules of this message board. A thick skin is usually required to participate on this or any message board.

Please note that, strictly speaking, sweeping statements about entire groups of fellow progressives are not considered personal attacks. However, they are often inflammatory and counterproductive and the moderators have broad discretion to remove such posts in the interests of keeping the peace on the message board.

There is a difference between forceful advocacy for a particular issue (which is allowed), and personally attacking people (which is forbidden). If you can't tell the difference, you are likely to get into trouble here.

Do not "stalk" another member from one discussion thread to another. Do not follow someone into another thread to try to continue a disagreement you had elsewhere. Do not talk negatively about an individual in a thread where they are not participating. Do not start a new discussion thread with the purpose of "calling out" another member or picking a fight with another member. Do not use your signature line to draw negative attention to another member of the board.

If you just don't like someone, please be aware that you have the option of putting that person on your ignore list. Just click on the appropriate icon on one of that person's posts.

We do not typically delete threads which many members may consider to be "flamebait." However, the administrators will occasionally remove threads which we arbitrarily consider too rhetorically hot or too inflammatory. Please use good judgment when starting threads; inflammatory rhetoric does not normally lead to productive discussion.

If you are the type of person who just can't get along with other people, and if you seem to repeatedly cause trouble, eventually we will decide that your presence is a disruption and we will ban you. It doesn't matter if you are a progressive or a long-term member of this board.

There are no exceptions to these civility rules. You cannot attack someone because they attacked you first, or because that person "deserved it," or because you think someone is a disruptor. We consider it a personal attack to call a liar a liar, to call a moron a moron, or to call a jerk a jerk.

For detailed information about how we enforce our personal attacks rule, please read "What is a Personal Attack?"

DISRUPTION AND INAPPROPRIATE POSTINGS

Do not post unpublished information on troop movements, military maneuvers, or any other information which may compromise U.S. national security.

Do not post messages that advocate harm or death to anyone, threaten the livelihood of anyone, or otherwise harass anyone. Do not send email, snail mail, phone, fax, or other messages to anyone if your intent is to threaten or harass, and do not encourage others to do the same. Do not take your disagreements off the message board and into the "real world," and do not do anything to try to harm or harass any member of this message board in the "real world."

Please do not post messages or jokes that could be construed as advocating harm or death to the president, or that could be construed as advocating violent overthrow of the government of the United States. The Secret Service is not known for its sense of humor.

Do not post personal information about any other person, even if that information is publicly available. In addition, Democratic Underground does not condone or encourage efforts by individuals to "dig up" information about other visitors. You may post the public contact information for public figures, but you may not post anyone's private information without their consent.

Do not post duplicate topics that have already been posted.

Do not use our message board for personal fundraising, for-profit advertising, or selling products or services. We will occasionally make an exception in cases where the product or service contributes to the Democratic or progressive cause.

Do not post messages that are entirely in capital letters, unless you are trying to indicate yelling or intense emotion.

Do not post sexually explicit images or messages. If you wish to discuss topics of a sexual nature, please exercise an appropriate level of maturity and sensitivity.

Do not post graphic images of violence. If you have a legitimate political purpose for posting graphic images, please provide a clear warning in the subject line of your post.

Stay on topic. Don't jump into an unrelated discussion and introduce a barely-relevant tangent in order to bring up your pet issue.

Do not spam the message board.

WHERE TO POST VARIOUS DISCUSSION TOPICS

We have very strict rules for starting a discussion thread in the Latest Breaking News forum. Those rules are displayed when you click "post." Please follow those rules, or your message will be deleted.

Due to continuing problems, discussion of Israeli/Palestinian issues is limited to the Israeli/Palestinian Affairs forum, and is governed by a special set of rules which are available in that forum. If a discussion is primarily about U.S. policy in Israeli/Palestinian affairs, it is still allowed in other forums. Discussion of other Middle East issues is also allowed. If a thread is on a different topic, but later goes off-topic and becomes a discussion of Israeli/Palestinian issues, the moderators may move the thread to the Foreign Affairs/National Security forum.

Posts that are unrelated to politics or public policy belong in the Lounge or the Meeting Room.

Questions or Democratic Underground policies belong in the "Ask the Administrators" forum. All discussion topics relating to Democratic Underground policies, procedures, enforcement, etc., which are posted outside of the "Ask the Administrators" forum will be locked or deleted.

POSTING RESTRICTIONS ON NEW MEMBERS

Please be aware that new members are restricted from starting new discussion topics. We require you to first post responses to a few existing discussion threads before you are given the privilege to do so. We wish we did not have to enforce this rule, but we have found it very helpful to keep disruptors off of our message board. Please do not email us to ask what the minimum number is; we won't tell you, and it's not very high.

New members are similarly restricted from using the private messaging function.

YOUR SIGNATURE LINE

We have no plans to actively enforce rules about members' signature lines. However, we hope that our members will follow these suggested guidelines, which will help decrease download times for visitors with slow Internet connections.

Please try to include no more than one graphic in your signature line at any time. That graphic should be in either .jpg or .gif format, and should not exceed 500 pixels wide, 200 pixels tall, or 10 kilobytes.

Please try to limit the text in your signature line to only one paragraph, quote, idea, or comment.

You may change the color and font of your signature line text, but we would prefer that you not increase the text size.

SPECIAL GUIDELINES RELATING TO THE 2004 ELECTION

Perhaps the most critical question currently facing progressives is who should receive the Democratic nomination for president in 2004. In order to encourage a robust and thoughtful debate on this topic, we are instituting a few simple guidelines.

Negative attacks are an unavoidable part of any political campaign, and therefore they are permitted against any Democratic presidential candidate. However, once the Democratic party officially nominates its candidate for president, then the time for fighting is over and the negative attacks against candidates must stop. The administrators of this website do not wish for our message board to be used as a platform to attack and tear down the only progressive on the planet with any hope of defeating George W. Bush. Constructive criticism and even outright disappointment with the candidate may be expressed, but partisan negative attacks will not be welcome. If you wish to contribute to the defeat of the Democratic candidate for president, then you are welcome to use someone else's bandwidth on some other website. As the election season draws closer, we may expand this rule to include Democratic candidates for other political offices.

Democratic Underground may not be used for political organizing activity by supporters of any political party other than the Democratic party. Supporters of certain other political parties may use Democratic Underground for limited partisan activities in political races where there is no Democratic party candidate.

You may not use your signature line to attack any Democrat.

For more information, please read "DU and the 2004 Democratic Presidential Primary".

PLEASE BE AWARE OF THE FOLLOWING

THE MODERATORS AND YOU

Treat the moderators with respect.

Do not post messages attacking the moderators or administrators.

All of the moderators on this discussion board are volunteers. They provide their time and their good judgment to this website free of charge. They do not make the rules; they only enforce the rules. They do not deserve to have scorn heaped upon them either publicly or privately.

If you think something requires the attention of the moderators, please hit the "Alert" link on the post in question. This will send an email message to the moderator so they can address the problem next time they log on to their computer.

Please be aware that moderators are not expected to be online all the time, and therefore they cannot respond immediately to every problem that arises on this discussion board. If you send an alert or complaint to a moderator, please give that moderator sufficient time to respond. Do not assume that a moderator is ignoring your concerns merely because he or she does not respond as quickly as you would like.

When a moderator enforces the message board rules, members are expected to respect their authority and abide by their decisions. If you disagree with a moderator's decision, you are encouraged to politely explain why you disagree. Do not send rude, dismissive, or disrespectful responses to the moderators.

If you think a moderator has acted inappropriately, please contact one of the administrators privately so we can deal with it.

Do not publicly post private messages you receive from moderators and administrators.

The only people on this board with the authority to speak or act on behalf of Democratic Underground, LLC, are the site administrators. The moderators only represent Democratic Underground when they are performing their official duties.

For a complete list of moderators and moderator duties, visit our Moderator Info page.

THE ADMINISTRATORS AND YOU

If you have any questions about the rules of this message board, please contact the website administrators by sending an email to admin@democraticunderground.com, or by posting in the Comments and Questions forum. The administrators of this website are Skinner, EarlG, and Elad.

Questions or Democratic Underground policies belong in the "Ask the Administrators" forum. All discussion topics relating to Democratic Underground policies, procedures, enforcement, etc., which are posted outside of the "Ask the Administrators" forum will be locked or deleted.

Occasionally, the administrators of this website will make decisions that are not popular. That is life. We have given up trying to make everyone happy, because it is simply not possible.

YOUR FREEDOM TO LEAVE

All visitors to the Democratic Underground website are here voluntarily. Nobody is forcing you to post on this message board. The administrators try their best to be fair, and to make Democratic Underground a welcoming place for progressives who like Democratic Underground and who want to be here. If you don't like Democratic Underground, or the members of Democratic Underground, or the way we run Democratic Underground, then we strongly suggest that you exercise your right to leave. If we decide that you don't like this place very much, then we reserve the right to show you the door ourselves.
