Heading sensors, autopilot and radar

I've got the Furuno NavNet 1733C radar and from reading posts here, figured out why I could not do the radar over gps overlay. I did not buy the Furuno PG500R $529.00 heading sensor.
OK, so now I don't have that feature (Which is something I wanted) but I also don't have autopilot. I can get the Furuno Autopilot 511 complete for about $2250.00 and it includes the heading sensor. The rudder feedback would also be nice with the stern drives so I could tell their position when docking (so I have been told).
I fish in the Chesapeake bay. I don't think I really need autopilot because most of my fishing will be fairly close and don't plan at this point taking the B26 off shore anytime soon. I only carry 110 gallons of usable gas anyway. For what I do, is the autopilot really worth it?
I could...
1. Leave well enough alone and not do the overlay. I've already spent way to much money on this "baby Hyena" boat.2. Buy the heading sensor to get the overlay feature.
3. Buy the autopilot while I still have enough of the boat apart that it would not be too bad to install, and hope it adds overall value to the boat.
What does the faithful say?
