Bruce - seems like I just saw that Furuno came out with a machine that will read both types of cards, the raster and the other kind.

I have the Garmin 2010C that uses Garmin's BlueChart chips and the wide area chip I use covers from Key West to Brownsville in incredible detail. To my weak eyes the big Garmin is far and away the easiest to see, even in direct sunlight.
