I think all autopilots need a fluxgate compass, I think Doug was wondering about the Gyro, which I think helps the pilot react to and learn the way your boat handles. I don't see how one could improve the operation on my boat, but if someone offered me one, I'd wire it in, just wouldn't spend $500 on it.
