I did a great deal of homework before I selected 270 6B's. If properly cared for they should last many hours as mentioned in the other notes. the 210,270,315, and 370 share the same moving parts, with a couple of exceptions: turbos, intercoolers etc and pumps, they are all Diamond Series now. Cummins just turns up the pressure, adds more fuel and cooling which adds hp. The life expectancy however is inverse to the increase power, which is natural. I was informed that Cummins general life expectancy without major work is for 210,270- 8-10,000hrs, 315-5,000 and 370-3to3,500hrs. The man that bought my used gas 440's from my 31 brought his company Dodge pu with an org B motor to pick up the motors. He had 33o,ooo miles on it. Owned since new only work done were new injectors @300,000 miles.
