Engine compartment painting 101

I'm preparing to paint underneath the engines in my B28 [they're out now soon to be replaced with new] and had planned on degreasings, soap and water washdowns and wiping downs with de-natured alcohol and/or acetone as needed until clean then slightly sanding and then painting with several coats of white enamel as the finish.

There is 28 years of accumulated grease and grime pretty impregnated in the fibreglass and I'd like to ensure the new paint adheres correctly.

I don't plan on awl-gripping down there and am aiming for a layman's finish.......would appreciate your tips/advice etc as to do's and dont's so as to achieve a fair finish that will last a good while.
