Even if the story on the cannon mounted on the bow isn't true, It is entertaining! Did you get that story from the gentleman you know that has owned it since new? I bought this boat from the estate of the person that bought it new. The boat was parked in the next slip over from mine since 1982. I always had a love affair with it, but could never get him to sell it to me. Just had to be patient. He was a personal friend of Dick Bertram and rumors have it that Bertram and he ran it in the a Miami to Nassau race. Their is a placque on the dash that indicates it was "race tested" by the "Bertram Race Crew". The boat is all set up with some very nice "Tag Heuer" stop watches on the dash. I only wish I had asked more questions while he was around!
