mARTIN, Did you buy a 40 series or 50 series? The 40 has a body lenghth of about 15" and the 50 is about twice as long and will eliminate that rap. Or Edelbrock makes one that is more mello. There's also a Co. called "IMCO". Call me if you need more help. 508-548-9440 "MR. MUFFLER"
