tim i hunt in athens maine and in the area of central/northen maine there is a sub species of whitetail deer no kidding! it is common to see 230+ lbs.they have every appearance of a muley but they are not.i use a 1886 winchester in 40-82 caliber(for guys in the know like bruce thats handloaded on neck down 45-70 brass 240grain you are not going to find 40-82 ammo in any stores).no it is not black power hunting but it is old fashon;octagonal barrel open sights outside hammer.the shotgun you are using is in good shape and not damascus(sp?)steel there is no reason for not using it.
