I will continue to shore up the reservations with Champlins, and keep the ball moving. Maybe I just need some help...
The last thing I want is to have the rendezvous up here stop. I am hoping someone will take the lead, that is all.
How about this:
1) Someone to research the options to host dinner on Saturday. Champlins is definitely an option, and hosted it on a nice deck overlooking Great Salt Pond 3 years ago. Not sure if it is big enough. We will need other options. They did a good job on food however, particularly for the price, and that is good to know. I think dinner was something like $35 vs. last year! Someone to handle the dinner and communication with the chosen restaurant would help very much.
2) I am more than willing to maintian the reservation website.
3) I can handle the payments along with the reservations, but would love to have the shirts shipped to someone who can take responsibility to fulfill the orders. In otherwords, recieve all the shirts, and then break them into the individual deliveries, as well as distribute the package at the get together. That would take a huge load off of me.
Finally, 3). Supporters. Charlie, and Tom, can we combine the support for the rendezvous into one "operation"? That way anyone who commits to supporting "a" rendezvous, provides enough material for both? Most of the organizations I interfaced with do that already, (Blue Water Lures, Bimini Bay, Alex Whitikar, and so on), but we should be able to get Interlux and the rest to work up enough material to support both. If there is financial support to defray the meal or other costs that would be able to be borne by the supporters, that would benefit both gatherings as well.
I do want the rendezvous to happen. I have been promoted at work, and we have just enjoyed the busiest year in our history, with a 26% increase this year over last already, so don't spout any malarchy about working too much. It is a temporary period that I am responsible to respond to. I have taken more than my share of work time over the past 3 years to make this happen, and you guys know that, and that is why I know a good natured ribbing is all that is happening.
But I want to relax a bit this year during my non-work downtime, and the rendezvous has not been relaxing. So, if anyone can take the lead or we can find people to take on roles described above, and maybe I can do it.
Andre, get on a plane and come fish in the fog for flounder, rendezvous or not! Excuses, excuses...
