I wouldn't argue that point. Bonding makes sense.
But I have seen 316L get eaten up in low points of exhaust systems around the area where water and exhaust have mixed, not only at joints and welds. To me that seems like something in the water is doing the damage, stray current...going from where to where? Again not trying to argue the point, its just what I have been brought up with as the reason for the problem and seems to make sense.
