Same thing is happening in my little corner of the Big Apple.Already lost 2 local marinas, and a third is under cosideration for condos and a shopping center, two things we really don't need here anymore. It seems that each developer is trying to get superzoning approval to build bigger, higher, and grander than what was existing prior. This community once had a thriving fishinig heritage. There used to be over 30 open fishing vessels, maybe another 30 charter vessels, and numerous commercial vessels. Now all we have is about a dozen open boats and that's it. I guess once they're gone they'll just fill in the bay and develope on top of that too. Even non marine properties are going through the same procedure. Single family unit comes down and a 5 or 6 story multiple dwelling goes up. When does it reach the point where enough is enough? Parking is nonexistant anymore, secondary and tertiary streets are jammed from corner to corner, all hours of the day. It's enough to make me start counting the days till retirement so I can get the hell outta here.
