Mike, 12K BTU is plenty. Now as for brands. Cruisair is far and away the best, and I've used some of the other ones, and they are by and large garbage, noisy, break down, just flimsy. The Cruisair units are not much more, and they have a huge support network and stand behind them. My 12K Cruisair on AJ has been run countless hours over the last 12 years and still produces cold air, or if you turn the knob the other way, more hot air than you can stand. I view the Cruisair sorta like an Icom 125 VHF, the heavy duty, well made bullet proof marine thing you gotta have, so get one that works for decades, not months.
