I got my biggest two electrical problems resolved this weekend.
The first was the engine alarm buzzers. When I turned on the port, the stb alarm would buzz and light. With two stations, each worked fine on their own (FB or lower), but with all hooked up I had created a loop between the upper and lower. Loop found and fixed, problem solved.
The second was my flow scans. They were reading 12GPH at idle and 24 at 5000rpm. Turned out I had the switch set on the back for a diesel sensor and not for the gas models. Now at idle it's reading less then 1 gph and even at 5000 rpm it does not move past 6 GPH. Won't know for sure until she is under load.
Question for Bruce and others: I was told that I could use a 4 wire setup to run both stb and port flow scan sensors. One ground, one positive and the others for port and stb meters. I did not think about it at the time, but since I put the power for them on the stb ignition key, I have to have the stb key on to get the GPH readings on the port. This was recomended, but now I'm thinking if I want to troll on my port, I have to have the stb key on. That would throw my readings off and defeat the purpose of the flow scan. I don't know how often I would only troll on one engine. Most of the time both would be on or off (I think).
It's going to be a major pain to redo the wiring, but I am wondering if I should leave it the way it is, redo the wiring so that each igition powers its own sensor or use a combination of relays or diodes to power the 4 pair wire that I already have installed.
Got to go re-winterize. it's supposed to get cold later this week.
