In Response To: Interesting fuel problem and the fix (Bruce)

I had a similar problem with my starboard engine dying about 3 seconds after starting and then taking quite a bit of cranking to start again-then no such problem again all day, and maybe into the next day. Leave the boat for longer than 1-2 days and it happened on starting again. In the search for an air leak, we rebuilt the Racor, tightened everything we could, replaced the fuel line and fittings from the Racor to the lift pump because they looked suspect, changed a tired looking/sticking stop solenoid and it still happened. Just about when the mechanic was ready to blame the injector pump, I insisted he change the lift pump. Problem solved. Funny thing was that it was the first thing I suspected, but was told it was fine.
