Frank,

You can technically do it without cutting in the angle to the aft of the outboard stringers, but it will cause your engines to sit higher & thereby reduce the space between the top of the engines and the engine box.

Don't be intimadated about cutting down the stringers. You'll be sistering in for your bed width and once that's all accomplished, it'll be far stronger than it was before you cut them down. And, you really do need all the head room you can get under the boxes for a proper sound insulation...
