UV,

First remember that epoxy yellows & degrades under ultra violet light... CEPS does exactly what is claimed, but is it worth the price for what you're doing? Not in my humble opinion...

CEPS is a full solids, very thin epoxy & will yellow with the best of them...

The alcohol thinned epoxy will do pretty much the same thing & the alcohol will combine with what ever miniscule moisture that might be present & it'll flash off with the alcohol. High solids just isn't a critical issue for sealing wood.

Remember to allow the wood to warm up good, either in the sun or under other heat source, then move to a shaded and cooler space for the epoxy treatment. This will minimize or completely avert any bubbles as the epoxy cures.

Lightly sand the treated wood to remove any fuzz or raised grain, then add a coat of full strength epoxy and allow to cure 24 hrs. Lightly sand that coat, being careful not to cut through to the bare wood. Use 180 grit paper.

From there on, multiple coats of uv protected varnish. Your choice as to brand. I prefer Epifanes, but it takes alot of learning curve since it's very thick...

Best regards,

Patrick
