epoxy sealer for teak before varnish

I'm in the process of stripping the old varnish off my teak fighting chair in prep for refinishing. Using a chemical stirpper and it works fine. Will sand the bare teak, may have to use a teak cleaner and brightener to get the color just right, then time for the new finish.
Remember some of the Faithful describing an epoxy underbase prior to the varnish - Patrick said to cut regular expoxy 50/50 with denatured alcohol.
I did some reading on the net (whew, guys, there is some info out there today) and a lot of the blow boat guys, real teak freaks, are using a product made by Smith called CPES, for Clear Penetrating Epoxy Sealer. Claims it has a lot of volitles in it and will penetrate about 5 times further than thinned regular epoxy. Recc. is to use two coats, sand between, on bare wood before the final finish. It's a 2 part, mixes 1/1, which is a plus for epoxy dummies like me.
Another claimed advnatage is it displaces a lot of water out of the wood and is good for forming a base in rotten wood so a filler can be added on top of it. Stuff is about $35 for two pints and 45 for two quarts, claim the shelf life is 10+ years. The rotdoctor.com promotes it as does some other places like Jamestown Distributors, a pretty reputable place. My goal is to seal the teak to give a good base for the varnish and to keep water out, 'cause that's what has mostly made the original varnish crack and streak.
Your thoughts are respectfully solicited.
