I ran a 31 Bahia Mar with a huge tower - almost an aluminum flybridge. It made the boat roll pretty bad in a beam sea and caused a definite performance loss - gas boat. My express had a very heavy "custom" (that's fancy for "homemade") tower when I bought it. Didn't cause any noticeable problems. I cut the top off and just left a "half tower" that is still pretty heavy, really haven't noticed much difference, and I repowered with diesels at the same time.
