UV, I assume you had the chair in the shop. If not, I've always been told NOT to use steel wool on a deck anywhere as the little steel threads will break off & spread into every little nook & cranny. Only way you will find them all is when they all start rusting. Seems logical to me, so I've always followed that advice.
