Mitch,

250HP 6BTA uses 5", 300HP & up uses 6"

If you're going the 300+ route & want to shift the exhausts outboard, use the Centek Mini Max muffler. 5" is the largest standard Centek muffler that can fit outboard of '72 & later models. Pre-'72, (173 gallon tank), the deck will have to be raised to go outboard with anything over a 4" standard muffler...
