rewiring 73 Bert 35'

I need advice on rewiring my bert. I think it still has most of the old original wiring and a lot of add ons. I bought this boat knowing that I would have to do most of the updating myself. And think that I am up to the challange. Some of things I would like to know are: Where do I start? marine electrial books give a lot of theory and not much practical stuff. Who has the best price on wire and panels? Anyone want to lend a hand. I live in the Hampton Roads area of Virginia. I will certainly reciprocate. All useful advice is appreciated. If you have gone through rewiring and can think of things that I need to know, please post.
