Diesel Engine Touch-up Paint

Anybody have suggestions about how to touch-up paint diesel engines? I have some little rusted spots I want to kill. Heard everything from Oshpo and acetone to wire-brush only for prepping. As for paint, heard zinc chromate primer, rustoleum primer/paint, imron paint, and CAT paint only.

Anybody here have some long-term experience to offer for this Project?
