Check, ebay or consumers electronics.
Personally, I like the all in one unit, or 2 units that can repeat the info of the other.
Biggest screen you can afford, and color.(I think it's way more important(better use of $) than the open aray)
I have just started using the overlay feature of my raytheon stuff. The radar scan is overlayed on the chart, which I find more informational, specially when running close to shore(and in fog).
The unit I have and have seen will alow you to have split screens, if you don't want to overlay
As far as the kw of the antena, your more limited by the height you can mount the antena, so while a open aray is cool to look at, and more powerfull, your probably ok with a 4kw closed aray, for 1/4 to 1/3 the cost of an open system. Radar is line of sight, and the earth is round(xcept in Mike's world, and there it's flat and he's the emperor of everything).

I personally don't buy the lightning strike thing. I think that your using common power for all the electronics, and you have just as good a chance to blow most or all of your stuff with a strike. Best back up is battery operated hand held stuff.
