Bulkhead/Stringer advice

I need advie on a problem I just encountered. My boat was hauled out for the winter. Water collected in the bilge so I asked the boat yard to jack up the bow to allow water to drain. He later notified me that when he jacked the boat he heard "cracking sounds" and noticed that the center of the boat was bowing. When I inspected the boat I noticed the center bulkhead fiberglass coating detached from the wood because of ice cracking sounds when I compressed it by hand. I am not sure if I have also have stringer problems yet or just the bulkhead. I informed a friend of mine that does alot of boat work and he said that one of the ways that he fixed a similar problem in a friends boat was to core out the rotted wood from the stringers and fill the void with epoxy and shredded fiberglass matting. The length of the fill was long, approximately 4 - 5 feet. He said this will be stronger than original. I am not sure if this is true. The boat is a 32 Blackfin. I recently purchased the boat (approx 3 months ago). See trials were perfect. Boat is in great shape externally everything also appeared well internally also. Handled 5 foot sees with ease. No flexing or vibration was noticed. Soes anyone have experience with this type of repair(filling with epoxy and shredded fiberglass) or should the rotted wood be replaced with new wood. Also, what is the most effective way to test the stringers? Do I have to take core samples from a few sections? Please help.
