Mike,
My wife has had one for two years and likes it. A Whirlpool.
I think its better than old metal burner type.
Not as good as gas.
The pans have to sit flat, any warped ones extend heating time.
The glass top is pretty stout, but can break if something heavy is dropped on it.
Top remains warm for a short time after shutting down. Watch if you have any small snot rags running around.
