If I read your first post right the shaft is only inserted into the coupling 3/4" on a 1-1/2' shaft?

If this is the case, its not enough.

I also would never trust a prop out of the box.
Even if the manufacturer trues it up, those UPS monkeys throw the boxes around and it could very easily be tweaked in shipping.
Not worth taking the chance.

A way to check engine mounts is to first look at them and second take the boat out.
Stop the boat.
Put the boat in gear and advance the throttle quickly and watch the engine for any movement or jumping. Do it both in forward and reverse.
