We have the same unit on our '74 Bert 31. And just purged the system back aft on the ram (ours has handy little allen head screws to purge on both top ends of the rams) We were losing pressure through the resevior cap (ours was the one with the pump installed in it. A good idea 20 years ago but we replaced with the new cap with just valve on top) , added fluid and pumped up to 28psi. World of difference with the added psi and no air in the system. Turns on a dime, total control and responce up at the helm. We also have the oversized stailess rudders which I am sure help also.
