One word answer: FIXED

Get Mike to send you a small sample of the aluminum channel. Use it to mark the line of the inside position of the channel on your combing. That mark is the point of reference for your templates. Yes you do need 2 templates, port and starboard...

Make the initial templates from strips of door skin with a hot glue gun. From those templates, make the production templates from a sheet of door skin. Double check the fit on both, modify as necessary to get them right on the reference line, and clearly mark them Port or Starboard, & inside surface and outside surface.
