Back in the long board days we always kept a fishing rod in the car. When the blues or stripers came close we paddled out and reeled 'em in. One good punch to the head and they lay flat without flopping around. Stack them up on the front of the board and paddle in to a great barbecue.

That and a stone was always in the pocket to break clamshells. Never wanted to come in for lunch when the waves were hot.
