Heres one that shows boat yards are not populated with rocket scientists. Last year I went to pay my dockage in Jan, 50% is due by Jan 15 with remainder before the boat goes into the slip. The nice woman says to me "If you pay the whole amount now you can take a 10% discount" Needless to say I pay the whole amount in Jan and take the discount. A couple of days later the same nice lady calls me and says she has made a mistake and that I am not allowed the discount because it is only for boats that store for the winter and summer (i summer only). I say OK I will pay the balance (10%)when I bring the boat over in the spring. This is where it gets interesting. She says that in order to keep my slip I have to pay by the next day (Jan 16). I remind her that only 50% is due and that I have payed 90%. She sticks to her guns and demands that if I don't pay the final 10% immediately she will give my slip away to one of the many on the waiting list. I gave in and brought over my check with my tail between my legs. But I got to keep my slip that I overpay for. It reminds my of an old Molly Ivans saying " I can explain it to you , but I can't understand it for you".
