I have a Northstar 800X and was going to sell it. There are those that still like it and use it. Now I'm going to keep it and will turn it on next season for a refresher course.

Speaking on the note of navigation by the seat of your pants, as we crossed Block Island Sound last summer coming home from Newport, the GPS went out for ten minutes and then came back on O.K. Prior to going blank, I told my helmsman to note the compass bearing just in case. Gotta' pay attention, mate! When the GPS went off, we were glad we did. We coudn't see Block Island and had we missed Montauk Point, Portugal would have been the port of entry.

Yeah, we could have used the radar. That's true.
