Biodiesel

Has anyone tried biodiesel in their boat yet. I have started using it in my tractor and I am very pleased with it. Much less smell and soot, cleans the fuel system, has increased lubricity and is more environmentally friendly (less air pollution and the soybeans soak up carbon as they grow). I'm using B20, which is a 80/20 blend of diesel and soy diesel, but you can use any blend up to B100, which is straight soy without modifying or damaging the engine. B20 acts like diesel as far as gel point, etc. My farmer is also using it in all of his equipment and the only problem he reports is that when you first switch you have to make a lot of filter changes as it dissolves all of the deposits in the tank and fuel lines. Once this is worked out the system stays very clean. Also they report that the oil stays much cleaner and the engines are lasting longer because of that. The biggest advantages to us would be the fact that it does not have the sulfer smell or soot of regular diesel. It is available taxed or untaxed, and recently passed tax incentives are reducing the price to a competitive point. For anyone interested in more facts, check: http://www.biodiesel.org/ Rawleigh
