Jerry,

Your flange bearings on the rudder shaft should slip on and off fairly easily at ambient temps... Best to use crocus cloth or even a file and remove the necessary metal from the shaft to obtain an easy fit. True round is unimportant for rudder shafts at the upper end and the two lock screws in the bearing race should be the only thing that tightens the bearing to the shaft. Also use some TefGel or other anti-seize between the race and the shaft. If you sweat the bearing on, (ice and heat), you'll have a hellofa' time getting the rudders out in the future...
