Jim, my view, like that of the Prof, is that the 3.0 135 hp Merc package at $5K is the way to go. After all, it is a 20' boat and all the comments about the weight in that small of a boat are true. I have seen the performarce of the Judge's 3.0's in his B25, and they put out more hp at the prop than the original straight 6 165's. Two years in a row he has followed me in AJ from my camp to Venice, LA, exactly 110 NM, 95% at high cruise, 24.5 kts. I burn 83 gal. diesel on that trip, and he burns 58 gas. And at $5K for the whole deal new, with warranty package, is a no brainer. How many hours you gonna put on a B20 a year? 20 - 30? Anyway, my view is to keep it simple, cheap and remember it's a 20. Put your money in your 31.
