I think that would be way too much weight in the back. Your scuppers are at the waterline as it is with standard power.

A 175HP rotary engine will push it about 40 MPH with less then 550 lbs including outdrive.

The new Volvo D3 5cyl deisel will rocket it along about the same speed with additional weight of about 772lbs total including outdrive. CMP did this to his and loves it.

Original in line 6 will push it about the same speed.

I think you'd need a mighty big shoe horn to get anything bigger in there. I have heard of some rumors about B20's with small blocks, etc., but never heard any actual accounts or details. I don't see any real gain in going to a bigger engine. Are the 190 or 210 HP Vortec V6's an option?
