In Response To: GREETINGS FROM GUAM (Roland)

I know that you will have a great time there, I just wish I had not had to leave! I spent 5 years there in the Navy, working out at NAVCAMS and COMNAVMAR, then went back and spent 13 more years there as a civilian. There are two good 31's there when I left, one is owned and run by a good friend and a great fisherman, John Eads. His boat is the "Lucky Strike" and last I heard it was still bearthed in the Agana marina. The other 31 is owned by my buddy Rick Pangalinian who inherited it from his his dad who passed away a few years back. His dad held the world record fro Pacific Blue Marlin for many years with one caught just off the northwestern tip of the Island, a few miles off Ritidian Point. Those southern banks can hold awsome fish. The first one is Galvez Bank and comes up to less than 15 fathoms with the water around it well over 1000 fathoms. Just to the southwest of it is Baby Bank, a small peanut-shaped one. The passage between the two can hold some great Tuna. Farther to the south is Santa Rosa Banks and there is some (or at least was some) great bottom fishing there in the shallows. Great deep water snapper as well, but the sharks can be a big problem. Wander on down another 15 miles or so and you get to White Tuna Bank. By then you are 50 miles from the island and out of sight of land, but it is sometimes worth the trip. I remember trips where th Wahoo were so think that we could fill a #500 pound box in a day! Rick Pangalinian bought my ice machines and is still delivering ice to the boats as far as I know. I was a captain for the Island Girl charter operation for a few years and at one time or another worked on almost every charter boat there. Let us know how youdo, it has been a long time for me, almost six years, and while Cabo San Lucas is nice, it isn't geen enough! Have a great time at the fiestas, the people there are great, and try to get to Rota, Saipan and Tinian if you can. Oh, and don't forget, Palau is just an hour away by air and has the best snorkling and diving in the world! Have fun! George
